The forum itself was founded by two men, according to a New York Times investigation, who run a number of websites for \u201cincels\u201d. Wanting to retrace her sister\u2019s last steps, Walton visited the forum herself. \u201cA lot of the posts are basically saying, \u2018Your family don\u2019t care about you\u2019, \u2018You should do it\u2019. \u2018When are you going to catch the bus?\u2019 is a phrase they use.\u201d<\/p>\n
Walton believes that what takes place on the forum \u201cis a type of radicalisation into an extreme action that people otherwise might not even have considered.\u201d She is haunted by the possibility that the man who was with Aimee when she died was \u201cliving out a sick fantasy as an incel who wants to see a young and vulnerable woman end her life\u201d.
